Eating This – California Pizza Kitchen – Santa Clara

Remember the California Pizza Kitchen of your youth? My local one was in a mall and it’s where we went for lunch or dinner after shopping with friends. I always liked the thin crust pizzas. They had the perfect crust and tasty toppings. It’s been ages since I’ve stepped into a CPK but the fond memories still linger.

There’s a new apartment development in my neighborhood called the Monticello Apartments. It’s very luxurious and the plaza has restaurants in the works. California Pizza Kitchen is already open. I was invited there last weekend for a complimentary lunch and it definitely reminded me of the good old days and even better! The interior has been remodeled and features modern decor in a bright and spacious layout. They also have a new menu with some seasonal items and cocktails.

My lunch included the Charred Shishito Peppers, which feature East Asian shishito peppers pan-sautéed with soy, garlic and red chili. The Spinach Artichoke Dip, served hot with housemade blue & white corn tortilla chips. The Banh Mi Power Bowl (photo below). The Wild Mushroom Thin Crust Pizza with shaved Cremini, Shiitake, Portobello and white mushrooms with slivered scallions, cracked black pepper, Romano and Mozzarella. Finished with Parmesan. And of course we finished with the Butter Cake.

All of it was wildly delicious. The mushroom pizza and butter cake were particularly good. And the Banh Mi Power Bowl is healthy and refreshing. Below are a few photos from Waterbury Publications via CPK’s PR firm.
