In a not so past life, I used to be a food blogger, sometimes freelancing for a local news magazine in the Silicon Valley called Metro News. Once in a while, I still contribute a piece to the magazine. My latest feature was about the Michelin starred Madera Restaurant at the Rosewood Sandhill Hotel in Menlo Park. You can read my piece here at sanjose.com. Below are some photos that didn’t make it to the magazine and are still worth drooling over.
($20) Sweet corn stuffed agnolotti with wild mushrooms and shaved burgundy truffle
Wine pairing with appetizers
Val de Mer Rose ($20/glass), San Fabiano Calcinaia ($15/glass), and Marco Felluga Pinot Grigio ($14)
Slightly tart and creamy Fromage Blanc was accompanied in each bite by slices of fantasy grapes and golden beets ($15)
Tory Farms Peach Melba ($12), a classic dessert of peaches, ice cream, and berry sauce. Madera’s version
uses vanilla brulee, raspberry coulis, peach sorbet.
